How to Change Address on Car Registration in Person

Drivers in Alabama wishing to make an address change request on their car registration can do so by visiting a local license plate issuing office. In order to successfully make an address update request with the AL DMV, follow these steps:

1. Visit a local license plate issuing office

2. Provide proof of identity:

   • Drivers license
   • ID card
   • Passport

3. Provide proof of updated address:

   • Utility bill
   • Lease agreement
   • Insurance card
   • Voter Registration card
   • Property tax receipt

4. Pay applicable fees
